MALCOLM MCCALLUM was born 1 May 1879 in Fairlie, to parents John, a joiner, and Elizabeth Wark (who married in Tillicoultry on 18 Jun 1878).  He died, aged 79, in Ilford, Essex in 1958.  

On 25 Sep 1909 at The Gordon Arms Hotel, Elgin, Malcolm (aged 30, civil service clerk, of Great Percy Street, London) married Agnes Shedden Hamilton (29, civil service clerkess).  The marriage was witnessed by Malcolm’s brother, Alexander M. McCallum.  

In the 1891 Census, Malcolm, aged 11, is living Oakbank, Fairlie with parents John (42, b. Fairlie, ship carpenter) and Elizth (39, b. Bonnybridge) and siblings Christina (8), John (6), Alexander (5), Daniel (4) and Andrew (1)  

In the 1901 Census, aged 21 and a civil servant, he is boarder at 2 Great Percy Street, Finsbury, London   In the 1911 Census, he is aged 31 and a civil service clerk, and is living 19 Ingleby Road, Ilford, London with wife Agnes Shedden (31, b. Elgin, m 1 year), daughter Elizabeth Wark (0, b. Ilford),    

No medal index card was found, but his regiment was given on the plaque as ‘R.E.’ (Royal Engineers?)
