DUNCAN RODMAN MCMILLAN was born 20 Aug 1899 at 10 Glebe Street, Saltcoats to parents Archibald, a sailmaker, and Elizabeth Rodman (who married in Stevenston on 06 Dec 1895).  He died in Largs in 1993.  

In the 1901 Census, Duncan, aged 18m, is living 10 Glebe Street, Ardrossan with parents Archibald (38, b. Campbeltown, sailmaker) and Elizabeth (31, b. Saltcoats)  

In the 1911 Census, aged 11, he is living Allanton Park Terrace, Fairlie with parents Archibald (49, ships rigger) and Elizabeth (42, m 15 years, 6 children).  

His Merchant Navy service card, dated 24 Jan 1931 gives his rating as Quartermaster and his Health Insurance Co. as Fairlie Friendly Society, Fairlie.

Enlisted Jan 1918.  His medal roll shows he received the British War Medal.
