ERNEST ALEXANDER PAXTON was born 25 Nov 1877 in Langside, Glasgow to parents Matthew and Mary Ann Duncan.  He died on 06 Jan 1955 at home at 6 Bruce Gardens, Inverness (aged 80, restaurateur (ret.), single).  

In the 1901 Census, Ernest, aged 23, is a journeyman baker, living Sydenham, Sinclair Drive, Cathcart with father Matthew (62, b. Leith, Edinburgh, wine merchant, ret.) and siblings Margaret J. (35, b. Glasgow), Joseph T.S. (30) and George S (28)    


Enlisted RN 07 Dec 1915 (occ. baker); transferred to RAF, Adriatic Group Clearing Station 01 Apr 1918 to 31 Dec 1918 (nok brother Joseph, Winton Place, Fairlie); transferred to Navy 01 Jan 1919; demobilized 28 Feb 1919.  He received the British War and Victory medals

A postcard informs that Mr. Ernest Paxton of Winton Place, Fairlie, left the district some time since, and that he has joined HMS Eclipse at Devonport.
