Fairlie Roll of Honour 1914-18

In May 1917, the Dowager Countess of Glasgow unveiled a war shrine which had been gifted to the village by Mrs Fergusson of Brooksyde, and erected against the wall of the porch of the Village Hall.

The plaque was inscribed with the names of all who had left the village in answer to their country’s call - originally the shrine bore 124 names, ten of whom had made the supreme sacrifice, but the nameplate must have been changed at a later date, because it now contains 126 names, nineteen of whom were lost.

The names as given on the plaque are as follows:-
