JAMES MILLER
is named in the Fairlie Roll of Honour of enlisted men printed in the Largs & Millport Weekly News on 21 Nov 1914 and in the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald Roll of Honour in Dec 1914 – he is recorded as Miller, Pte. James, Kelburn, RSF (Royal Infirmary, Stirling)

If he had been in action before Nov 1914, he would have received the 1914 Star – only two James Millers (RSF) received that medal:-

No. 7291 James Miller (also Millar); entered theatre of war 14 Aug 1914; discharged; 1914 Star, British War & Victory medals

No. 8649 James Miller (A/Sgt); entered theatre of war 6 Oct 1914; killed in action 12 Mar 1915; father’s address J. Miller, 41 Robertson Place, Kilmarnock

He isn’t in Fairlie in the 1911 Census or the 1912-1915 and 1920 Valuation Rolls, and we don’t have enough information to trace him in the statutory records.
